Paige
I’ve taught IGCSE English for nine years, including several years in international schools. Essay writing is where I spend most of my tutoring time, particularly helping students move from a sensible point to a properly developed argument. I like working from short extracts and asking questions before we write anything down. Near exams, we practise timed responses and look closely at why one answer earns more marks than another.

Hi! I’m an English tutor with five years of experience working with IGCSE students. Creative writing is probably my favourite part to teach because there’s always something interesting to experiment with, whether it’s viewpoint, dialogue or sentence length. I’m quite relaxed in lessons and we talk through ideas before writing. I also love editing together; taking an average paragraph and improving it line by line can teach more than another worksheet.

Jodie
Linguistics was my route into English teaching, and I’ve now spent seven years tutoring IGCSE students. Language analysis is a particular interest of mine, especially how tone, syntax and individual word choices shape meaning. I encourage students to annotate selectively rather than covering an extract in highlighter. From there, we build concise analytical paragraphs and practise selecting evidence quickly enough to work comfortably under exam conditions.

Kian
Before becoming a tutor, I worked in journalism and editing, where every sentence had to earn its place. I’ve taught IGCSE English privately for six years and often work with students whose essays contain good ideas but lack direction. We practise planning quickly, choosing useful evidence and cutting material that doesn’t answer the question. Non-fiction is a favourite of mine because audience, purpose and tone give us plenty to pick apart.

Elliot
I’m an experienced English teacher with six years in secondary education and extensive IGCSE teaching experience. My lessons combine close reading, discussion and regular written practice, with poetry being a particular area of interest. I encourage students to consider several interpretations before deciding which one they can support convincingly. Feedback is deliberately focused, usually on two or three recurring issues rather than correcting every line.

Robbie
Publishing was what brought me into tutoring. After several years working with written content, I started teaching IGCSE English and have now been doing it for eight years. Editing remains my favourite skill to teach. We often take a student's existing response and look at where the argument becomes vague, where evidence is missing and which sentences could simply disappear. I’m friendly in lessons, but I’m quite picky about imprecise vocabulary!
